VMware NSX Troubleshooting & Operations [v6.2] is an expert level, five-day course that imparts advanced knowledge and core skills in troubleshooting and operating the VMware NSX infrastructure.

This training course will expose participants to various technical problems and also teach them to solve those problems through well-defined methodologies. Through this course, participants get an understanding of how VMware NSX integrates with VMware vRealize® Log Insight™, VMware vRealize® Operations Manager™, and other management tools.

This course will prepare candidates for the following certification:

Introducing the NSX central CLI
Describe the NSX infrastructure and component communications
Discuss common VMware NSX® Controller™ deployment problems
Install NSX components for host preparation
Troubleshoot host preparation problems
Troubleshoot management and control plane synchronization problems

4. Troubleshooting and Operating NSX Logical Switches

Creating logical switches
Describing the VXLAN architecture
Troubleshoot the logical switch control plane and the data plane
Deploy the central CLI to troubleshoot logical switch problems

5. Troubleshooting and Operating NSX Logical Routers

Describe the NSX logical routing architecture
Understand logical routing pre requisites
Understand the VMware NSX® Manager™ plug-in for VMware NSX® Edge™
Gather logical routing information for operations and troubleshooting
Deploy the CLI to troubleshoot problems related to the controller and the control VM
Troubleshoot routing subsystem component failures
Deploy tools such as logs and packet capture to identify and solve routing problems

6. Troubleshoot and Operate NSX Security Services

Discuss the NSX distributed firewall components and communication channels
Validate and troubleshoot distributed firewall configurations
Understand the SpoofGuard and identity firewall functions
Discuss distributed firewall thresholds, availability, and operations
Discuss Service Composer components and troubleshoot Service Composer problems
Explain Guest Introspection architecture, components, and deployment details
Discuss third-party integration and automation
Understand the distributed firewall monitoring and logging architecture
Deploy the CLI to troubleshoot edge services gateway firewall operations

7. Troubleshoot and Operate NSX Edge Services

Identify and troubleshoot NSX Edge high availability models
Understand ECMP and handle routing failures
Troubleshoot edge services such as DHCP and DNS
Troubleshoot various types of VPN services
Discuss and troubleshoot common load-balancing problems

8. vRealize Operational Tools for NSX Operations Management

Discuss NSX operational requirements and tools overview
Introduce vRealize Network Insight
Introduce vRealize Log Insight Content Pack for VMware NSX

Pre-requisites

Experience working with vSphere
Understanding of layer 4-7 network services
Understanding of the concepts presented in the VMware NSX: Install, Configure, Manage course or the VMware NSX for Internetworking Experts Fast Track course
Understanding of layer 2-3 networking protocols, and switching and routing methodology
VCP-NV certification is recommended.
